Look! Department of Tourism’s Philippine Experience Caravan in Region 1 23 Mar 2024, 10:30 am

CShink! | Look! Department of Tourism’s Philippine Experience Caravan in Region 1 | One of the Philippines’ most captivating and stunning regions is Ilocos. It’s a location where nature, culture, and history all combine to provide tourists with an exceptional and life-long experience. The region, which includes the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan, is located in the northwest of Luzon. This is why Department of Tourism launched Philippine Experience Program last March 19 to exhibit culture, heritage, and arts of Region 1. The municipality of Bacarra, which is well-known for its ancient Domeless Bell Tower, is the first of numerous stops in the Province of Ilocos Norte. Once the tallest structure in the area at fifty meters, the building withstood earthquakes and continued to stand as a testament to the Bacarran people’s tenacity in the face of many hardships.

After the delectable breakfast at Bacarra, the delegates were taken by the Philippine Experience Program (PEP) caravan to see the Malacañang of the North, which was constructed as the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos’ official house. The grand two-story building that commands a breathtaking view of Paoay Lake is the perfect example of Ilocanos’ rich Hispanic architectural legacy.  Now reduced to a shadow of its former existence, the mansion functions as a historical museum. Visitors who would like to see the home may peruse its treasures while taking in the scenery of Paoay Lake, which the estate is situated next to.

The most exciting aspect, though, was when participants in the Philippine Experience Program (PEP) were welcomed to Kusina Valentin in Paoay with a taste of some classic Ilocano foods, ‘with a twist.’ These included crispy dinuguan, bagnet kare-kare, and pinakbet pizza. Paoay Church may be reached via a short stroll from Kusina Valentin. Secretary Frasco later presented an Award of Appreciation to the Town of Paoay in recognition of the town’s gracious reception of the PEP caravan.

Following a tour of Ilocos Norte’s historical sites, the representatives of the Philippine Experience Program (PEP) journeyed for around 1.5 hours to arrive to Vigan City, located in Ilocos Sur. After making a brief visit at the renowned Luna Hotel, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco and the PEP delegates were met by Mayor Jose “Bonito” Singson Jr. and other Vigan City authorities at the Vigan Museum.

Visitors may learn about the rich history and cultural legacy of Vigan City at the Vigan City Museum. Along with a home depot and a skills training center for productivity and livelihood, the Museum also contains the local library. The participants were transported from the hotel to the museum by a leisurely callesa ride that took them past the centuries-old history residences that line the cobblestone lanes of Vigan’s ancient heritage town.

Surrounded by rich cultural heritage, the local governments of Vigan City and Ilocos Sur Province honored Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco and the PEP delegates with an al fresco dinner in the middle of Calle Crisologo to cap off Day 1 of the Philippine Experience Program Ilocos Region. As the focal point of the Vigan Heritage City, Calle Crisologo, also called the Kamestizoan District, is recognized. A journey back in time to the Philippines’ colonial past is made possible by the ambiance, which is replete with ancestral mansions from the 18th and 19th centuries, complete with huge hardwood flooring, historic tile roofs, balustrades, and azoteas in a variety of Spanish, Mexican, and Chinese architectural styles. The UNESCO World Heritage List designation of this captivating historical and architectural landmark was made possible by its appeal.

Ilocos Sur Governor Jerry Singson greeted every PEP participant warmly during his welcome speech. “PEP is more than just an event; it’s a representation of our unity as we unite to present the finest that the Philippines has to offer. Together, we clear the path for a more promising future for travel to our nation,” Governor Singson remarked. During her keynote address, Secretary Frasco expressed her sincere appreciation for the PEP participants’ genuine hospitality from the provincial people and local government representatives.

“Philippine Tourism is a source of national pride for our country, that I confidently say that the heritage city of Vigan and the province of Ilocos Sur evince this national pride. For I can see that when tourism is a priority for the local government then everyone comes together to ensure that the destination is well preserved, livelihood continues to be provided to the people, and the heritage and culture of the place lives on in the youth,” the Chief of Tourism said, praising the genuine efforts of the Province and the City to raise the profile of tourism within local government.

Overseas Filipino Professionals See Surge in Demand Amidst Salary Increment Trends 27 Feb 2024, 11:50 pm

CShink! | Overseas Filipino Professionals See Surge in Demand Amidst Salary Increment Trends | Filipino professionals with overseas experience are witnessing a remarkable surge in demand as the Philippine job market gears up for significant salary increments and enticing bonuses in 2024, according to insights from the Robert Walters Global Salary Survey 2024.

Robert Walters Salary Survey report, a comprehensive analysis of salary trends and recruitment patterns, highlights the growing emphasis on compensatory benefits and the allure of overseas experience among employers seeking key leadership roles.

In response to sustained demand, organisations are poised to offer substantial salary increases, potentially up to 30 percent for job movers, especially in sectors like technology and finance, where skilled professionals are in high demand.

Despite the optimistic job market outlook, there remains a notable discord between employers and employees regarding compensation, benefits, and work-life balance preferences.

Exploring employment opportunities and preferences

The survey indicates that 2 in 4 employees actively seeking new job opportunities within the next year, driven primarily by prospects for career advancement. However, their decision-making is significantly influenced by an attractive bonus scheme (86 percent), access to private healthcare insurance (82 percent), and flexible or remote work arrangements (57 percent).

Moreover, amidst the job search, over half of employees (52 percent) remain open to counter-offers, particularly enticed by salary increments, promotions, and retention bonuses.

As companies grapple with a shortage of qualified candidates, they are striving to meet evolving employee expectations, particularly in terms of work-life balance and workplace flexibility. Employees prioritise work-life balance (91 percent), favoring options like a four-day work week, well-being services (36 percent) such as access to counselors, and diversity and inclusion initiatives (35 percent), signaling a paradigm shift in traditional work structures. The survey reveals a gap in expectations regarding work location. 72 percent of job seekers are willing to spend two to three days in the office, whereas 70 percent of employers expect staff presence for at least three to five days per week.

“Having a stellar candidate experience is now vital as the hiring market becomes more competitive, with more players vying over the best talent. Companies who can lay out a compelling story about the role they are hiring for and how it plays out in the company’s vision will have a better shot at winning the candidates they are after,” Robert Walters Philippines Director Alejandro Perez-Higuero said.

Emerging hiring trends and challenges

In light of emerging trends, the demand for skilled professionals in AI, technology, sustainability, and commercial leadership is expected to soar in 2024. Companies are increasingly relying on automation and digitalisation, driving the need for professionals with international exposure and diverse skill sets.

Currently, 25 percent of employers use AI models to automate routine tasks, with an additional 35 percent planning to do so within a year. Interestingly, some employees (43 percent) express little concern over AI impacts despite its role in enhancing their efficiency.

According to 58% of our respondents said that the primary challenges in talent acquisition across various industries are high salary and benefit expectations, shortage of highly specialised candidates, and a notable concern about the lack of technical skills particularly within the Technology sector.

To retain employees, companies have implemented strategies like enhanced learning and development opportunities (72 percent), hybrid work policies (60 percent), and increased wellbeing initiatives (55 percent).

The most sought-after skill sets include automation, digitalisation, technology, and digital competencies, along with commercial leadership and profit & loss management. Professionals with international exposure are particularly valued, given their broader market and stakeholder understanding.

Industry predictions

The job market in the Philippines is undergoing a transformative phase in 2024, marked by the growth of shared service centers and a substantial shift towards digitalisation and commercial excellence.

As international organisations increasingly establish their shared service hubs in key cities like Manila and Cebu, the country’s labor market is reshaping to meet new demands. With more shared services centers sprouting up in the country, Robert Walters Philippines expects that this will drive higher demand for business heads to lead the hub.

This trend will also lead to the increasing demand for Filipino professionals with overseas experience in leadership roles. Organisations across the Philippines are increasingly focusing on hiring Filipino professionals with overseas experience for key leadership roles. This trend, aligning with the nation’s growth aspirations, is creating a dynamic shift in the local job market.

Companies are keen on leveraging these international experiences to drive innovation and competitive advantage in an increasingly globalised business environment.

“Another growing trend we’ve seen is companies sourcing for talent to fill leadership roles through our Balik Bayan Campaign, which connects companies with skilled Filipino professionals based abroad with valuable, overseas work experience,” Higuero said.

Despite economic fluctuations, salaries are projected to remain stable in 2024, with job movers poised to reap significant rewards amidst evolving market dynamics.

As we set off on this educational adventure together, fasten your seatbelts and prepare to find out what the future of online gambling in the Philippines has in store. How about we get going?

Online Gambling Scene in the Philippines

Peering into the complicated and ever-changing realm of online gambling in the Philippines is like stepping into a colorful carnival. But where does this virtual playground stand right now? Now we can get into the nitty-gritty of how Filipinos are using online betting sites.

Current State of the Industry

There is a special connection between internet gambling and the Philippines. There is a hospitable and highly controlled environment in which the sector functions. Bingo, tong-its, and other traditional games as well as more contemporary slot machines and card games are available for both locals and visitors to enjoy. The varied character of the Filipino internet gaming industry is reflected in this combination of modern and traditional elements.

The ease of playing gambling games online has contributed to its meteoric rise in popularity. Not only can you play from the comfort of your own home, but you can also tap into a vast marketplace of games and betting possibilities from all over the world. A rising number of Filipinos are drawn to the online gambling scene by its accessibility and the promise of potentially huge victories.

Its ambitions to become a digital powerhouse are evident in the meteoric rise of online gambling in the Philippines. There are social and regulatory concerns with rapid expansion. The industry could realize its full economic potential while safeguarding public welfare if these concerns were addressed in a balanced manner.

Framework for Regulation

The Philippines Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) operates as the regulatory body. Online gambling and all other forms of gaming in the country are overseen by this government-owned business. By enforcing stringent regulations, PAGCOR encourages responsible gaming and prevents unlawful gambling.

The purpose of PAGCOR’s regulations is to ensure a secure gambling environment for players. Licenses and regular audits are necessities for operations. By keeping an eye on things, this regulation makes sure that online gambling sites are legitimate and gives players peace of mind.

Key Players and Brands

There are a handful of well-known businesses in the Philippines’ thriving online gaming industry. These major players have made a name for themselves thanks to their intuitive interfaces, large game libraries, and stringent safety features. Bet365, BingoPlus, ArenaPlus, Casino Plus, Pinnacle, and 888 Casino are well-known names in the Philippines’ betting industry.

These companies have a good grasp of the Filipino market and frequently provide games that are tailored to Filipino preferences. To attract new clients and keep the ones they already have, they frequently run promotions and offer bonuses. These names in online gaming have carved out sizable niches for themselves thanks to smart marketing and customer-centric services.

Among these businesses, DigiPlus Interactive Corporation (DigiPlus) has been holding sway in the Philippine online gaming sector. DigiPlus is a Philippine Stock Exchange-listed corporation that was incorporated on October 10, 1957, as Atlas Fertilizer Corporation. Digital sports betting platform ArenaPlus and live streaming bingo game BingoPlus nearly tripled DigiPlus’s earnings to P16 billion last year, thanks to increasing user traffic. This was after rigorous promotion and marketing. With its extensive distribution network of local entertainment facilities, a variety of products and games, and world-class multi-gaming platforms, the company asserts its dominance in the Philippine retail gaming market.

DigiPlus owns BingoPlus and ArenaPlus, and BingoPlus likely also manages CasinoPlus. In 2024, these three might be the most popular choices for online gaming and gambling in the Philippines.

To back its ambitions and strategies, DigiPlus recently finished a private placement of PHP1.85 billion in Q1 2023, as mentioned in a post. To fund the expansion of BingoPlus and on-site electronic gaming, the firm borrowed PHP3.0 billion. VIP gaming clubs and EGM halls are operated by DigiPlus’s wholly-owned units at Philippine casinos. It provides bingo and has licenses for online games.

E-games will be delivered by 23 licensed gaming system service providers by 2023, according to PhilStar. Reportedly popular sites include Bet88, OkBet, Instawin, and Gamezone. Bingo Plus, Solaire Online, Casino Plus, Thunderbird Online Casino, Okada Online Casino, and Winford are nine more reputable remote gambling sites. Go to the PAGCOR site to get a list of all the online gambling companies in the Philippines.

Also according to Pagcor, the industry can expect continued growth in the next five years, with at least one Integrated Resort (IR) opening every year starting this year in Quezon City, followed by new IRs in Cebu, Clark, and other strategic locations.

Comparing Services Across Platforms

Distinct variations exist in the realm of services. Some sites cater specifically to sports bettors by providing in-play betting and live broadcasts, while others provide a wide variety of casino games like slots and tables. Many players seek out platforms that offer a wide variety of gambling options in a single, easy-to-use interface. The attractiveness of a platform is heavily influenced by factors like its mobile app, user-friendliness of design, and variety of payment alternatives.

Success Factors

The success of well-known Philippine online gaming firms is due to multiple factors. Users will have faith in a system that is well-regulated since it guarantees safety and fair play. Customer service, bonuses, and loyalty programs are other hallmarks of popular brands that succeed in attracting and retaining customers. Also, marketers may connect with Filipino gamers on a deeper level by catering to their tastes, such as providing local games like Tongits or Pusoy.

Emerging Trends

There is no such thing as a static online gambling scene in the Philippines. The regulatory framework laid out by PAGCOR has set the stage for new developments and changes in consumer behavior. The future of this exciting business is being shaped by the current trends, so let’s explore them.

Analyzing the Current Trends

The first trend is the meteoric rise of mobile gaming. According to Statista, gambling is only one of many forms of entertainment that Filipinos are increasingly enjoying on their cell phones. Many Filipinos lead hectic lives, so the ability to play games on the move is a godsend. In addition, there has been a recent uptick in the popularity of social gambling games, which offer realistic simulations of gambling without the monetary stakes. Many people are getting their start on these sites, and then they move on to playing games for real money.

Technological Advancements at Play

Technology, the driving force behind many industries, is dramatically influencing online gambling. We’re witnessing the rise of blockchain technology, offering transparency in transactions and enhancing security — a major concern for players and regulators alike. Another game-changer has been the advent of live dealer games that provide an immersive experience reminiscent of being in a physical casino, appealing to those who seek authenticity.

Let’s not forget about artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). These technologies are reshaping online gambling through personalized gaming experiences. Platforms can now offer game recommendations, betting tips, and even responsible gambling prompts based on player behavior patterns.

Consumer Behavior Shifts

Who are the individuals behind the scenes, though? The way Filipino consumers act is changing. More and more people are looking for diverse gaming experiences, such as virtual sports and esports betting. Expanding their horizons beyond local offers, Filipinos are also shown a keen interest in international lottery games.

Responsible gambling techniques are in high demand, which is another interesting trend. More and more, players are realizing the dangers of gambling and are grateful for platforms that let them self-regulate with features like deposit limitations and self-exclusion.

All things considered, technical advancements and changing customer expectations have put the Philippines’ online gaming sector at a crossroads. With 2024 quickly approaching, these trends will most certainly dictate the course of the industry, opening doors for operators and players alike to push online gambling to new heights.

Predictions for 2024

Looking into the digital crystal ball, what does the future hold for the Philippines’ online gambling scene in the year 2024? Considering the ever-changing nature of our profession, this question is more than simply a passing thought. In the preceding section, we got a look at the most popular brands in the Philippines’ online gambling industry. Moving forward, let’s examine the possible growth paths, obstacles, and opportunities that could influence the industry in the years to come.

Growth and Evolution

The horizon for online gambling in the Philippines is one that appears to be expanding at an impressive pace. Industry analysts suggest a continued upward trajectory in user engagement, spurred on by technological advancements and increasing internet penetration. The introduction of new gaming formats, alongside the integration of virtual reality and blockchain technologies, could lead to even more immersive and secure gaming experiences.

In 2024, the predicted earnings in the Philippines’ online gambling industry to exceed $680 million. The 2024 online sports betting market is expected to be worth US$339.40m.

As the digital economy grows, so too does the potential revenue from online gambling—making it an ever-more enticing sector for both local and foreign investors.

Challenges and Opportunities

However, dealing with a complicated regulatory landscape is an unavoidable issue that comes along with expansion. While PAGCOR is in charge of the business at the moment, new rules will be necessary as the market grows to handle issues like responsible gambling, data protection, and fraud prevention. Conversely, this expanding industry is ripe with opportunities for new job creation and technological advancement, providing a plethora of niches for both new and seasoned companies to carve out.

The mobile gaming industry is another promising area. Operators in the Philippines who can optimize their platforms for mobile use will have a considerable competitive advantage, thanks to the increasing prevalence of smartphones in the country. Meanwhile, everyone involved needs to keep working on finding new ways to tackle problems like preventing addiction and making sure everyone plays by the rules.

What to Expect from Stakeholders

  • For Players: Keep informed and educated on the resources for responsible gambling and the reliability of platforms. Participating in communities that encourage honesty and provide resources for those struggling with gambling addiction is vital.
  • For Operators: Take advantage of new tech that makes things safer and better for users. To gain people’s trust, it’s important to provide strong customer service and implement open policies.
  • For Regulators: Create flexible regulations that protect participants and keep the sector honest without limiting expansion. To keep the Philippine market competitive on a global scale, it is important to work with foreign organizations to implement best practices.
  • For Industry Observers: Observe patterns, monitor trends, and communicate results and observations. The discussion and the industry’s path toward sustainable development are both influenced by industry analyses.

Looking ahead, the future of online gambling in the Philippines is very dependent on finding the right mix of regulation and innovation. The Philippines has a chance to become a world leader in online gambling if it cultivates an environment that supports both of these things.

Moving Forward

Take a minute to review the key points made in this article as we come to a close to our exploration of the ever-changing realm of online gambling in the Philippines. We have surveyed the dynamic present-day environment, where an abundance of opportunities awaits businesses thanks to a concoction of regulatory standards and fierce brand competition. Generations of Growth: The Story of Nelia and Marinel at RDF 20 Feb 2024, 11:07 pm

CShink! | Generations of Growth: The Story of Nelia and Marinel at RDF | In the heart of the Philippines’ thriving agri-food sector lies a story of resilience, dedication, and familial bonds. RDF Feed, Livestock & Foods, Inc., an enterprise symbolic of innovation and quality, not only provides the nation with fresh quality meats and value-added meat products but also nourishes the lives of those within its fold.

The essence of RDF’s success lies not in its state-of-the-art facilities or even its high-quality products, but in its people. This is the tale of Nelia and Marinel, a mother and daughter duo whose love for RDF transcends the professional realm, weaving into the very fabric of their personal lives.

Nelia and Marinel personify the heart and soul of the company—a heart that beats with the passion of its employees and a soul that thrives on their growth and happiness. Their stories are a celebration of the company’s values.

Nelia Adol: The Matriarch of Persistence

Nelia Adol

Nelia’s journey began in 1992. She was invited by her employer in a garment business, Ma’am Betty, to help her brother’s contract growing endeavor in Pampanga.  Nelia’s hiatus to care for her children in 1994 was short-lived, as the pull of professional life brought her back to the workforce in 1996.

In 2000, at the age of 33, Nelia officially joined RDF, embarking on a path that would challenge and shape her in ways unimaginable. From sales lady to a liaison officer, Nelia’s multitasking skills were put to the test. Despite having no prior computer skills and even facing workplace bullying, she remained undeterred.

Her mantra, “Kapag nahihirapan ako iniisip ko lang talaga ‘kaya ko to, basta para sa mga anak ko, walang mahirap dito,’” (“For my children, there is nothing difficult here,“) became her driving force.

With Ma’am Betty’s encouragement, Nelia transformed challenges into stepping stones. Her initial temporary role soon solidified into a permanent position as she chose to remain in Pampanga to support Dr. Robert H. Lo, Founder and CEO of RDF, nurturing her dream to provide for her children’s education.

Si RDF, ito yung bigay ni God para mapag-tapos ko yung mga anak ko sa pag-aaral” (“RDF is God’s gift to help me support my kids in completing their studies“)

As the company evolved into a corporation, so did Nelia’s career. Despite initial trepidations, she conquered the Purchasing Department. She became a testament to the power of trust and opportunity, managing a team of eight and embodying the virtues of loyalty and dedication to the company that had become her second home.

RDF’s transition was a period of significant change, and Nelia was at the forefront, ready to take on the responsibilities that came with her burgeoning career. Her position in the department became a pivotal point in her life, highlighting her adaptability and willingness to learn. As she navigated the complexities of procurement, contract management, and dealing with clients, she drew upon her innate strength and the unwavering support of the company.

Dr. Lo’s belief in the potential of Nelia was a catalyst for her growth. He supported her studies at De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde, where she learned procurement and contract management. Although she did not complete the full two years, the experience was invaluable, enriching her skills and knowledge. She even passed on this opportunity to a younger employee, a reflection of her commitment not only to her own success but also to that of her colleagues.

Nelia’s biggest achievement, she notes with pride, is managing the entire Purchasing Department. Her journey from uncertainty to a position of leadership exemplifies RDF’s belief in nurturing internal talent. The support of management was instrumental in her success, as she recounts with gratitude. Her sense of accomplishment is palpable as she describes her increased confidence in dealing with clients and partners, a direct result of the training and support provided by RDF.

The personal challenges Nelia experienced only served to strengthen her resolve. When faced with health issues that threatened to slow her down, the company stood by her, providing assistance in finding medical care and supporting her recovery. Her gratitude towards RDF is deep and unwavering, as the company’s support extended beyond the professional sphere, helping her through personal hardships.

Nelia’s dedication is also evident in her daily routine. Never one to be late, she sets high standards for her team, instilling a strong work ethic while also showing compassion for their personal struggles. Her role as a mother-figure extends to her team members, evidencing her nurturing nature that she has carried over from her family life to her professional environment.

The respect and affection that she receives from her team demonstrate her balanced leadership style. “Thankful din ako kay Boss Robert kasi sa 24 years ko dito, hindi niya ako napapagalitan,” (“I’m also very thankful to Boss Robert, because in all of my 24 years working for the company, he has never gotten mad at me,”) Nelia states, appreciating the positive reinforcement she’s received throughout her tenure, which has been free of reprimand due to her exemplary work ethic.

Her aspirations for the future remain firmly rooted in the values RDF has instilled in her. With a plan to continue her association with RDF even after retirement, Nelia dreams of establishing her own livestock trading business, becoming a supplier for RDF, and thereby maintaining the symbiotic relationship that has defined her professional life.

Marinel Policarpio: A Legacy Continued

Marinel Adol Policarpio

Marinel, echoing her mother’s footsteps, joined RDF in 2008 as a cashier, a position that allowed her to experience the company’s collaborative and friendly atmosphere. Her initial role was one where the workload was manageable and the environment was buoyant with the shared productivity of her colleagues.

However, the ten-year break from her career to focus on her family, particularly during her delicate pregnancy, could have been a deterrent to her professional aspirations. Yet, RDF’s open arms and the supportive guidance of her mother, Nelia, paved the way for her return in 2018 as a Treasury Associate.

Transitioning from cashier to Treasury Associate posed its own set of challenges for Marinel. “Parang wala na akong stock knowledge kasi naging mother figure na ako for a very long time,” (“It felt like I lost all my stock knowledge after spending all my time being a mother”) Marinel shared.

This long career gap had dented her confidence, but the support of her mother and the RDF family bolstered her.

Marinel shared that her mother would always tell her – “Wag ka talagang susuko, at laging sumubok kasi hindi mo malalaman kung magiging successful ka if di ka lalabas sa comfort zone mo.” (“Never give up, and always try, because you’d never know if you would actually be successful at something if you don’t leave your comfort zone.”)

The trial-by-fire beginning of her role in the Treasury only fueled her desire to excel. Her job demanded precision and efficiency, as she was responsible for creating and releasing checks, a task that requires meticulous attention to detail and adherence to strict financial processes.

Despite the initial lack of a proper turnover, Marinel’s determination to succeed saw her developing strategies to manage the workload effectively. The challenges of peak seasons, rush requests, and the sheer volume of transactions were met with Marinel’s growing confidence and expertise.

Marinel’s exceptional performance and her ability to meet the rigorous demands of work did not go unnoticed as she was recognized “Best Employee of 2023” by her colleagues.

A Synergy of Professional and Personal Development

The professional journeys of Nelia and Marinel are exemplary of the RDF ethos. Both women have flourished within the company, thanks to RDF’s dedication to nurturing its employees’ growth. The educational and professional development opportunities provided to them are reflective of the company’s commitment to empowering its workforce.

Nelia’s rise from an eager novice to a department head is a narrative of encouragement and opportunity. The company’s continued support and training played a significant role in her professional evolution, allowing her to pass on the knowledge to her team and foster a culture of continuous learning.

Yun ang pasasalamat ko sa management. Hindi nila ako pinabayaan, lahat ng support, binigay din nila,” (“That’s one of the reasons I’m thankful to the management… they never left me hanging, and they gave me all the support,”) Nelia shared.

Marinel, on the other hand, has been carving her own path within the Finance Department. Her dedication to her job and eagerness to grow within the company have led her to explore further educational opportunities, like pursuing a degree in Entrepreneurship. RDF’s support in her academic endeavors, typically reserved for supervisors, underscores the company’s investment in her potential.

A Home Beyond Work

The concept of home transcends the walls within which we reside; it encompasses feelings of security, belonging, and understanding. For Nelia and Marinel, RDF represents such a sanctuary. It’s a place where professional relationships blend seamlessly with personal connections, where the line between colleagues and family blurs into insignificance. This sense of home is cultivated through RDF’s conscious efforts to prioritize employee well-being and foster a supportive work environment that resonates with the warmth of a family.

At RDF, the traditional corporate hierarchy gives way to a more familial structure. Employees are encouraged to support each other’s growth, much like a family nurtures the development of its members. Nelia, with her nurturing demeanor, has been more than just a department head; she has been a mentor, confidante, and maternal figure to her team. Her office extends beyond a space for work—it is a haven where her team can seek guidance, not just professionally but personally.

For Marinel, the workplace is a canvas of her growth, painted with the brushes of opportunity and trust. The company’s environment made her return to work not just possible but welcoming. The understanding and support she received upon rejoining RDF after a significant break to focus on motherhood exemplifies the company’s recognition of the importance of work-life balance. RDF has provided a structure that enables Marinel to excel in her professional role while also cherishing her role as a mother.

A Shared Future

As they look forward, both Nelia and Marinel envision their futures as inseparable from RDF’s trajectory. Their individual paths, while distinct, are inextricably linked to the company’s ethos of growing with its employees. Nelia’s aspiration to continue her connection with RDF through livestock trading business is a testament to her loyalty and the entrepreneurial spirit that RDF has inspired in her. This ambition is not a departure from RDF but an expansion of the fruitful relationship they have cultivated over the years.

Marinel’s future at RDF is one of potential and possibilities. Her ambitions to explore new departments and roles within the company signify her desire for growth and commitment to contributing to RDF’s success in various capacities. The Purchasing Department, where her mother has left an indelible mark, beckons as a new frontier for her to conquer.

Together, the shared future of Nelia and Marinel at RDF is an embodiment of the company’s dedication to the long-term success and satisfaction of its employees. It’s a future that looks to continue the legacy of empowerment, learning, and mutual respect that has been a hallmark of their time with RDF. As Nelia prepares for a future that still keeps her connected to RDF, and as Marinel plans to broaden her horizons within the company’s diverse departments, they both stand as symbols of RDF’s enduring commitment to its family of employees.

In this shared future, Nelia and Marinel do not just work for RDF; they live through it, with it, and for it. Their individual aspirations and collective experiences are threads woven into the larger tapestry of RDF’s corporate culture, which is characterized by an unwavering commitment to creating a place that is more than just a workplace—it is a home.

Yung RDF, para sa amin ni Mama, naging pangalawang tahanan na siya,” (“To my mother and I, RDF has become a second home,”) Marinel shared, even discussing that she is open to the idea of her children working for the company in the future.

Conclusion

Through Nelia’s steadfast dedication and Marinel’s blossoming career, we see the impact of a company that truly invests in its people. They have not only contributed to RDF’s growth but have also been uplifted by the company’s belief in their potential. The mother and daughter’s journey is a powerful narrative that underscores the company’s role in shaping lives and fostering generational loyalty.

As Nelia approaches her well-earned retirement, her legacy within RDF is secure, reflected in her daughter’s continued ascent. Marinel’s evolving career and aspirations for the future shine as a beacon for what is possible within the nurturing walls of RDF. Together, their stories weave a tapestry of commitment, showing that when a company cares deeply for its employees, it cultivates a loyalty that spans decades and touches hearts.

In the end, the story of Nelia and Marinel is more than just a mother and daughter’s love for a company; it’s about the power of opportunity, the strength found in trust and support, and the profound bonds that can form when a business transcends its bottom line to truly care for its family. As RDF continues to grow, it does so with the knowledge that its success is mirrored in the lives of Nelia, Marinel, and the countless others like them who call RDF not just a workplace, but a home.

This mother and daughter duo will always stand as a proof to the enduring power of love, support, and mutual growth—a love that is as much a part of RDF as the very products it proudly brings to the Filipino table.
