This month is both Black History month, and the month for Valentine’s Day!

Two events that occur on the same month, one on 1 day, the other, every day, all day, all month long. Let’s imagine they both represent the same thing, “The unfair treatment of an entire people.”
Wait a minute, you might say! Valentine’s Day is about love it’s not about the unfair treatment of people! Are you saying, “Be My Valentine,” it’s unfair treatment, you don’t really mean that, do you?

Well, let’s take a look!

When was the last time you experienced a relationship that was fair? Some may say, I have, and it’s still going strong after, … years! Well unless you are taking score, and I mean taking score as if it was a boxing match, taking account for every blow scored, then you might want to rethink the 50-50 analogy, and just say, “The equivalence, in the relationship, between these people, seem right.” Seeming right, doesn’t mean fair, or equitable for all, it just means on the surface it appears okay. It’s the sharing of the responsibility of expenses, liabilities, assets and cashflow, and all the benefits, in house, equally. It does not mean fair treatment, at least not all the time. It means balanced treatment, being acceptable over time.
In reality, the African American today, since, Marcus, Medger, Malcom, Martin, made voice their power, at a tremendous price, change often looks like saggy pants and briefs. All these great men, are to be praised for their sacrifice, but there is one man’s name that is not so much celebrated, but is known, “Marcus Garvey.” Marcus Garvey was about, getting your own; business, home, ownership, investment in yourself.
Marcus Mosiah Garvey Jr. ONH was a Jamaican-born political leader, publisher, journalist, entrepreneur, and orator. He was President-General of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League. He also was President and one of the directors of the Black Star Line, a shipping and passenger line incorporated in Delaware.
